'whatever you give woman, she will make greater'.

The British novelist once said ‘whatever you give woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby, if you give her a house she will give you a home, if you give her a smile, she will give you her heart’. Whatever women put hands upon turns to platinum. This just gives a clear analogy of women as the most influential part of the society.

But it comes with surprise when the Media tend to undermine and disrespect the presents of women in our society and they themselves don’t see that. Let’s talk about the representation of women in the media. The media industries more specifically television was heavily loaded with men than women on the screen some few years back and many people thought women were being undermined which could be the case. But today everything seems to have changed with women dominating the screen and they feel being empowered which is not absolute the case.

As the world continuously becoming a commercial stage where making money is the priority than the social perspective that women are being empowered on our screen, women are continuously being disrespected in an attempt to make profit. In direct terms, the media are using women to generate capital and use the word beauty to blind them. They are sort of an attractive tool that television finds it relevant to scoop more viewership and without women the television business is likely not to flourish.

One of the tools explained as media rhetoric or persuasive technique are only women and one thing that should possible be asked is why only women and not men? The media decide on how women should look, media decide what women should wear on and off the screen; the media decide everything for women.

How many stories on our TV that shows women with their legs covered? How many television programme hosted by women with their cleavage covered, with their faces, entire body being transformed? Unlike men, they are presented wearing suits and tie, why? Because men are regarded superior than women and should be respected. That’s the social perspective about men.

Women are being disrespected, undermined and taken advantage of. It's only time that women realize how television has taken advantage of them and strike back!
